Printify vs Printful: the 2026 comparison
A marketplace of print providers versus an in-house workshop. Their own comparisons, their admissions, and what it changes for you: price, quality, Europe, Etsy, branding.

At night, two paths lead one to a market of small print stalls, the other to a large workshop with glowing windows.
MagicMoon · EditorialThe short version
- For a first store, both will do: pick the one that lets you publish tonight.
- Printify is a marketplace: you choose your print provider. Printful is a workshop: it makes the product, and chooses for you.
- Printify is often cheaper, as Printful itself writes. Printful takes more care of your brand, as Printify admits.
- In Europe, both make products locally: check where your own product will be made.
- Print quality can only be judged from a sample.
Printify vs Printful: my short answer
Printify or Printful? If you are reading this, you are torn between the two. And I get it: from a distance, their websites look very much alike.
My short answer first. For a first store, you cannot go wrong with either. Both are free to start, both connect to Etsy and Shopify, both print on demand.
Now the long answer. Printify is a marketplace: you pick your print provider from more than 70. Printful is a workshop: it mostly makes products itself, and chooses where they are made for you. Everything else follows from that. Price, quality, turnaround, your brand on the package.
I have used both in the past. But rather than tell you my impressions, I will give you what can be checked. And for once, they are the ones who will help us.
| Printify | Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| The model | A marketplace of print providers | A workshop |
| Who chooses where it is made? | You, or Printify Choice | Printful |
| Free to start | Yes | Yes |
| Catalog | More than 2,000 products | 589 products |
| Its strength, as the other admits | Price and choice | Branding and in-house production |
Each wrote its own comparison. Guess who wins.
A quick aside before we get into the thick of it.
Printify published its comparison, "Printify vs Printful". Printful published its own, "Printful vs. Printify". Guess who wins each one? 🙂
Nothing unusual there: each presents the figures that suit it. Printify declares itself the winner on profit, catalog and print providers. Printful plays the diplomat, "no wrong choices here", before concluding: "make the switch to Printful". Each even gives a lower figure for the other’s catalog than the one the other displays. And some figures are out of date: Printful’s page still lists Printify’s Premium plan at $29 a month, when Printify raised it to $39 in February 2026.
The most interesting part is not their wins. It is their admissions.
Printful writes in black and white, in its own FAQ, that Printify is "often" cheaper. And Printify admits that quality and turnaround "can vary" from one print provider to another.
Two admissions, and you already have half of this article. I will walk you through the rest, point by point. But first, a short detour through the family.
| According to Printify | According to Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| Printify’s catalog | More than 2,000 products | More than 1,300 products |
| Printful’s catalog | More than 530 products | 589 products |
| Cheapest t-shirt | Printify $6.66, Printful $7.78 | In black, in the US: Printify $9.16, Printful $9.25. In Europe: Printful $6.75, Printify $7.71 |
| Printify Premium | $39 a month | $29 a month |
| Its admission | Quality and turnaround can vary by print provider | Printify is often cheaper |
“The most interesting part is not their wins. It is their admissions.”

Brothers, not twins: the Printify and Printful merger
Type "printify printful" into Google and it suggests "merger", "new name" and "fyul". In other words: have these two become one?
They are family, yes. Printful and Printify announced their merger on November 5, 2024. Their group is called FYUL, with a third house under the same roof, Snow Commerce.
But they are not twins. Printify says so in its FAQ: the two brands remain separate and operate as two distinct services. Each has its own website, its own catalog, its own way of making products. For you, the choice is still wide open.
Two little winks all the same. Printful appears in Printify’s list of print providers. And to the question "can I use both at once?", Printify simply answers: yes.
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| November 5, 2024 | Printful and Printify announce their merger |
| November 14, 2024 | The merger takes effect, according to both companies’ US tax form |
| January 2026 | The group recounts its first anniversary, where it unveiled its name: FYUL |
The real difference: you choose the workshop, or it is chosen for you
Here is the key to this whole article. Everything else follows from it.
Printify is a marketplace. It has products made by more than 70 print providers, spread across more than 140 facilities. For each product, you are the one who chooses. And your choice changes everything: the price, where it is made, the turnaround, the branding options.
To help you, Printify scores every print provider from 0 to 10, every week, on three criteria:
- Quality
- Production speed
- Samples and shipping
Would rather not choose? Printify Choice does it for you. And if your provider runs out of stock, order routing, if you turn it on, hands the order to another one.
Printful is a workshop. It mostly makes products itself, in seven fulfillment centers of its own in Europe and North America, backed by partners in Brazil, Japan and Australia, and, for some outsourced products, by other partners around the world. And here, there is no choice: its system sends each order to the most suitable center, most often the one closest to your customer, based on stock and printing technique. Every order goes through a three-step quality check, it says.
So which one? You like to stay in control, compare, optimize? The marketplace. You want a single house to handle everything, the same way everywhere? The workshop.
| Printify | Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| Who makes it? | More than 70 third-party print providers, across more than 140 facilities | Seven centers of its own, plus partners |
| Who chooses the workshop? | You, or Printify Choice | Printful, automatically |
| Public scores for workshops | Yes, from 0 to 10, every week | No: a single in-house standard |
| When something is out of stock | Another print provider, if you turn on order routing | A backup center, unless you opt out |

Printify vs Printful: which one is cheaper?
The million-dollar question. And for once, the answer comes from Printful itself.
In its FAQ, to the question "Is Printify cheaper than Printful?", Printful answers: "Yes, Printify often offers lower product costs", thanks to its network of print providers. When the competitor says it, you can believe it.
But "often" is not "always". Take the Bella+Canvas 3001, the t-shirt both of them offer. Printify lists it at $10.98 on its t-shirt page, and at $11.29 on its comparison page, on the same day. On the Printful side, the product page showed me, from France, €12.55 including VAT. Dollars on one side, euros including VAT on the other: comparing down to the cent makes no sense.
And the cheapest t-shirt? According to Printify, it is its own, at $6.66 versus $7.78. According to Printful, in black, Printify wins in the US, but Printful wins in Europe, at $6.75 versus $7.71. Each picks its own t-shirt, and Printful also specifies the color and the region. Hard to compare.
Then shipping. Printful charges a flat rate per product category: for a t-shirt, its page, viewed from France, showed €4.49 to Europe and €4.69 to the US, plus a small amount for each additional item. At Printify, each print provider has its own rates.
My advice: compare the delivered price, not the listed price. Your product, plus shipping to your typical customer, before your sales platform’s fees and taxes. That total is what makes your margin.
| Printify | Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| Bella+Canvas 3001 | $10.98 or $11.29 depending on the page | €12.55 including VAT, seen from France |
| Shipping one t-shirt | Depends on the print provider | €4.49 to Europe, €4.69 to the US |
| One more t-shirt | Reduced rate, from the same print provider | +€1.25 to Europe, +€2.10 to the US |
| Cheapest, according to Printful | In the US | In Europe |
The paid plans: Premium or Growth?
Both are free to start. You only pay when an order comes in: the product and the shipping. Printify even states that it makes its money through a margin on that price, with no platform fees.
Then each one pushes its plan. Printify Premium costs $39 a month, or $24.99 a month billed yearly. In return:
- Up to 20% off all products
- Up to 33% off new ones
- 10 stores instead of 5
Printful Growth costs $24.99 a month, or €24.99 if you pay in euros, with a 14-day free trial. It advertises up to 33% off, varying by product. And it has a nice touch: once you pass $12,000 in sales over the year, Printful gives you the subscription free for a year.
Should you pay from day one? My take: no. A discount only pays off if you are selling. Printify says it in its own way, on its pricing page: upgrade when the discounts earn more than the plan costs. I could not put it better.
| Printify Premium | Printful Growth | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $39 | $24.99 or €24.99 |
| Billed yearly | $24.99 a month | Not listed |
| Advertised discount | Up to 20% on all products, 33% on new ones | Up to 33%, varying by product |
| Stores | 10, versus 5 on the free plan | Unlimited, even on the free plan |
| The extra | One-on-one mentorship | Free for a year past $12,000 in yearly sales |
Which one prints better?
The touchy question. And I will be honest with you: no web page can prove it to you. Not mine, not theirs, even if each one claims it.
What can be checked, on the other hand, is how each one goes about it. Printful bets on an in-house standard: its own centers, its three-step quality check. Printify bets on choice: print providers with public scores that you can compare. And it admits it itself: quality can vary from one to another.
Good news: according to Printify’s page, both work with the same big apparel brands, Bella+Canvas, Gildan, Comfort Colors, Stanley/Stella. So the blank t-shirt can be exactly the same.
And when something goes wrong? There, the two meet:
- A damaged product or a manufacturing defect: a new item or a refund, free of charge
- To request within 30 days of delivery, with a photo
- Without sending the product back
On the other hand, neither one takes back a t-shirt because your customer picked the wrong size. That is the rule of print on demand: every piece is made for them.
| Printify | Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| Defect or damage | Reprint or refund | Reshipment or refund |
| Time to report it | 30 days after delivery | 30 days after delivery |
| Send the product back? | No, a photo is enough | No, a photo is enough |
| Wrong size chosen by the customer | Not covered | Not covered |
Selling in Europe?
Type "printify vs printful" into Google from France, and "europe" is the very first suggestion. So let us talk about it.
Printful has two centers in the European Union: Riga, in Latvia, and Barcelona, in Spain, which mainly serves Western Europe. Its Birmingham center, for its part, only makes products for customers in the United Kingdom.
Printify has print providers in France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia and the United Kingdom. But it is up to you to choose a European provider, product by product. Pick a US provider, and your t-shirt will cross the ocean, unless order routing, when you turn it on, hands a single-item order to a closer provider.
For Etsy and Shopify, Printify also offers a program designed for this, Printify Choice Global Fulfillment: on a handful of t-shirts and sweatshirts, the order is made locally, in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union or Australia. A small trap to know about: on Etsy, the listing will still say "Ships from the U.S."
On taxes, they are even: as a general rule, if you do not have a European VAT number, both charge you VAT on orders delivered in the EU. And Printful points out that this holds even when you sell on Etsy, which collects it from your customer on its side: these are two separate sales, theirs and yours.
And one detail Printful points out: since July 1, 2026, and during a transition period, a package coming from outside the EU bears a flat customs duty of €3 per item under €150, when VAT is declared through the EU’s one-stop shop (IOSS); otherwise, standard customs rates apply. One more reason to have what you sell in Europe made in Europe.
| Printify | Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| Production in the EU | Depending on the provider chosen: France, Germany, Czech Republic, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia | Riga (Latvia) and Barcelona (Spain) |
| United Kingdom | Local print providers | One center, for UK customers only |
| Who chooses where? | You, or Printify Choice | Printful |
| VAT on orders to the EU | Yes, as a general rule | Yes, as a general rule |
| Euros | Payment possible in euros | Prices shown in euros, seen from France |

On Etsy: personalization and production partner
Etsy comes up in most Google suggestions about these two. Good news: both connect to it, publish your listings and pick up your orders.
First, an Etsy rule that applies to both: you must disclose your production partner in your listings. Printful points out that it does not do this for you: it is up to you to select it each time you publish.
The real difference is personalization. Do you sell t-shirts with a first name, a date, a photo? Printify automatically applies what your customer entered on Etsy to your design. And on some products, its live preview shows the customer the result before they buy.
Printful also accepts personalization on Etsy, but differently: the order arrives as a draft, and you are the one who adjusts the design to the customer’s request before sending it to production. For three orders a week, that works. For thirty a day, much less so.
| Printify | Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| Connection and publishing | Yes | Yes |
| Production partner | To disclose, as for any Etsy seller who outsources production | To select yourself, listing by listing |
| Personalization | Applied to the design automatically | To redo by hand, order by order |
| Preview before purchase | Yes, on some products | Not advertised |

The catalog and the techniques
In terms of choice, Printify lists more than 2,000 products, Printful 589. A clear edge to the marketplace, and it makes sense: more print providers, more products.
But both cover the essentials: t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, phone cases, canvases, pet accessories. And the same techniques: direct-to-garment printing, direct-to-film transfer, all-over print and embroidery.
Then each has its specialties:
- Printful highlights its unlimited color embroidery, and embroidery combined with printing on some products
- Printify, finishes such as puff, metallic or glitter, and jewelry, which Printful does not offer, according to Printify
| Printify | Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| Products | More than 2,000 | 589 |
| Shared techniques | Direct-to-garment, direct-to-film, all-over print, embroidery | Direct-to-garment, direct-to-film, all-over print, embroidery |
| Its specialty, in its own words | Puff, metallic and glitter finishes | Unlimited color embroidery, embroidery combined with printing |
| Jewelry | Yes | No, according to Printify |
Your brand on the package: the Printful edge
On this point, both camps agree, and that is rare enough to point out: branding is Printful’s turf. Even Printify’s page acknowledges it.
Printful offers:
- Labels printed inside the garment ($0.99) or outside ($2.49)
- White-label packaging and a packing slip in your name
- A custom order tracking page
Your inserts, thank-you cards or stickers: you have them made, you send them to its centers, and it slips them into the packages that ship from the center where you stored them, for storage and handling fees.
Printify does the opposite: it prints your inserts on demand, with no stock and no minimum, and your neck labels from $0.55. The catch: only five of its print providers offer inserts, and neither inserts nor labels work with its express delivery.
For visuals, on the other hand, it is a draw: both offer a free mockup generator.
Should you worry about this at the start? Not really. But the day you are building a brand, with customers who come back, that is where Printful pulls ahead.
| Printify | Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| Labels | Printed neck label, from $0.55 | Inside $0.99, outside $2.49 |
| Inserts | Printed on demand, $0.25 or $0.15 with Premium, at five print providers | Your own, sent to and stored in its centers |
| Packaging | Depends on the print provider | White-label, packing slip in your name, paid custom packaging |
| Mockup generator | Free | Free |

The sample, again and always
Now for the advice that matters more than everything else.
No comparison will tell you how your design looks on a real t-shirt. Not even this one. The only judge is the sample.
Printify offers neither free samples nor a sample-specific discount: you pay your plan’s price, discounted if you have Premium, and nothing more. Printful gives you 20% off, as long as you have a connected store: one sample order a month to start, up to 3 items, and more as your sales grow.
| Printify | Printful | |
|---|---|---|
| Discount | No sample-specific discount | 20% |
| Condition | None | A connected store |
| How many? | Like a regular order | 1 order a month to start, up to 3 items, more as sales grow |
My verdict, depending on your profile
So, Printify or Printful? Here is how I would decide.
- You are opening your first store: pick the one that lets you publish tonight. Really. You can switch, or add the other one, later.
- You want the best price, especially for US customers, and control over the choice of workshop: Printify. Even Printful says it is often cheaper.
- You sell personalized products on Etsy: Printify too, for its automatic personalization.
- You are building a brand, with packages in your name and shipping costs known in advance: Printful.
- You mostly sell in Europe: no clear winner. Both make products locally; just check where your own product will be made.
And nothing stops you from using both. Printify says so itself.
| Your profile | My pick |
|---|---|
| First store | The one that lets you publish tonight |
| The tightest price, customers in the US | Printify |
| Choosing and comparing your workshops | Printify |
| Personalized products on Etsy | Printify |
| A polished brand, packages in your name | Printful |
| Shipping costs known in advance | Printful |
| Customers mostly in Europe | Both: it all depends on where your product is made |
“The better of the two is the one that lets you publish tonight. The rest is judged by the sample.”

Frequently asked questions about Printify and Printful
The questions Google suggests around these two names, and my answers in two sentences.
Printify vs Printful: which one is cheaper?
Often Printify: Printful writes it itself in its FAQ. But it all depends on the product, the print provider and your customers’ country, so compare the delivered price.
Are Printify and Printful the same company?
No. They have belonged to the same group, FYUL, since their merger in November 2024, but they remain two distinct services, each with its own website, catalog and way of making products.
Which one has the better print quality?
No web page can prove it. Printful relies on its own centers and a three-step quality check, Printify on print providers scored every week: order a sample from the one that tempts you.
Which one should I choose to sell in Europe?
Both make products in Europe: Printful in Riga and Barcelona, Printify through print providers in several EU countries. Check where your own product will be made.
Which one should I choose for Etsy?
Both connect to Etsy. For personalized products, Printify automatically applies the customer’s input to your design; at Printful, each personalized order is redone by hand.
Can I use Printify and Printful at the same time?
Yes. Printify writes it itself in its FAQ, and nothing forces you to have everything made in the same place.
Should I pay for a plan from the start?
No. Both are free to start, and a paid plan only pays off once its discounts exceed its price.
So where does MagicMoon fit in?
One last aside, I promise. MagicMoon is neither a marketplace nor a workshop: it is the step before, the creation. You describe your designs there, the AI generates them with a transparent background, and you place them on Printify or Gelato products. The product listing is written in the language of your choice, and publishing goes to your Shopify, Etsy or WooCommerce store through your supplier.
If you choose Printful, MagicMoon does not connect to it today. The account is free with no credit card: it lets you explore the journey in demo mode. To generate your designs for real, you choose a plan or a one-off top-up.
